Orthopedic and Spine Institute
Millions of Americans suffer from debilitating stiffness and pain in joints. The cause can be traumatic or sports-related injuries, repetitive stress or arthritis. Osteoarthritis, the most common form of this condition affects nearly 21 million Americans each year. According to statistics from the Arthritis Foundation, as many as 80 percent of individuals affected by arthritis report limitations in their lifestyle due to the condition.
The good news is if you or a loved one is affected by joint pain or other orthopaedic injury, help is available at the Orthopedic and Spine Institute at University Hospital and Medical Center. For decades, University Hospital & Medical Center has been recognized regionally for excellence in orthopaedic care.
October 22nd, 2009, University Hospital and Medical Center celebrated the opening of their newly renovated Orthopedic and Spine Institute with an Open House for the community and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Local city and government officials, physicians and surgeons were invited to tour the unit and its amenities for a sneak preview before receiving their first patient on Monday October 26th, 2009.

Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator - Concierge service for our patients
The Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator meets and greets our patients during the pre-admission process. This meeting can also be established by telephone for those patients who will not be coming in for pre-admission. The relationship between the navigator and the patient is to provide and assist in a seamless process during the surgical continuum of care.

Every aspect of the clients' care during the surgical continuum is included from assisting the patient with last minute questions before the day of surgery, to guiding and updating the family member of their loved one's progression of the surgery, to identifying all orders have been met and explore anything that may be missed or assist in improving a higher level of satisfaction as the ultimate outcome.
The Orthopedic and Spine Patient Navigator can be reached at 954-724-6092.
